The Medical/Benevolence Program has been established to provide grants and gifts to individuals with documented medical or benevolent needs in accordance with the charitable purposes of the Foundation. CREATING A
CASE STATEMENT

A Case Statement is the first document that you will need to develop for your non-profit strategy, but it is always a work in progress as your project develops. It is the single most important document because all other marketing, ministry and fundraising documentation will be developed from your Case Statement.

ADVISORY BOARD

An advisory board is a body that provides non-binding strategic advice to the operating project. The operating project is functioning under the New Horizons Board of Directors. The advisory board is a group of volunteers established by the manager of the operating project. The informal nature of an advisory board gives greater flexibility in structure and management compared to the board of directors.

FISCAL SPONSORSHIP

Fiscal sponsorship is a cost-effective way to implement new programs, bring together groups to collaborate on an issue, keep administration expenses low and test new approaches to social change. Fiscal sponsorship is a common mechanism used in the nonprofit sector that enables individuals to start new programs without establishing a new, separate nonprofit tax-exempt organization. These fiscally sponsored projects get their charitable status from their fiscal sponsor.

STARTING A
NEW 501(C)(3) PUBLIC CHARITY

Since nonprofits are mission driven without any services or products, a tax-exempt status from the IRS is critical. However, the process of attaining tax-exempt status and maintaining that status is highly burdensome. New Horizons Foundation provides an alternative that allows Board Approved Operating Projects to launch in a few days. The completion of form 1023 is a time intensive project. This process can take weeks, months and sometimes years.

ASSOCIATE MINISTERS RETIREMENT PROGRAM

Many pastors and ministers of nondenominational churches or leaders of Christian charities have not had an adequate retirement plan established by the church or organization that rewards them appropriately for their many years of service. The Associate Ministers Retirement Program is a way to provide this benefit for ministers, even though funds have not been set aside during the years in a qualified retirement plan.
