MATCHING GIFT

Many organizations and corporations will double or triple the gifts made to publicly supported charities. Within a corporate matching program, employee gifts, made to qualified non-profit organizations that meet the company’s guidelines, are matched with company or corporate foundation funds.  The foundation qualifies for most of these programs. RETIREMENT ASSETS

Thanks to a smart new law, if you’re at least 72 you have the freedom to make tax-free distributions from your IRA directly to charity. So, if you are taking IRA distributions you don’t need or that force you into a higher tax bracket, you now have a surprisingly easy solution. This new giving advantage works for transfers up to $100,000.

The new Path Act made the IRA rollover permanent and provides that individuals over 72 can transfer money directly from their IRA account to charity without having to receive it first as income. Because the transfer is directly from your IRA to charity, it is not considered income to you nor do you receive a tax deduction for the transfer.   A transfer from an IRA to charity also counts against the Minimum Required Distribution amount for that year from your IRA.

FROM YOUR ESTATE

To insure that the project you support continues to exist after your lifetime, consider making a gift from your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance to The New Horizons Foundation for the project at your death.

REAL ESTATE

MEMORIAL GIFT

Memorial Gifts – We are appreciative of gifts that are designated “in memory of” loved ones, family members, friends, classmates, faculty members, and others. We are grateful for those who have uniquely remembered a loved one by making a gift in their memory to support foundation projects.

Select the designated project from the “Operating Projects” and enter “in memory of” and the name of the person in the comment section.  We will send a letter to the family acknowledging your gift.

CATTLE OR AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES

Farmers or ranchers who would like to make a gift of grain or cattle to charity before the asset is sold can get significant tax benefits over selling the commodity and making a cash donation.

IN-KIND GIFT

Please contact our office if you wish to give an in-kind of inventory, medical supplies or equipment.  These gifts can be very beneficial to the projects as it supplies them with needed goods during economic hard times, relief effort work or during a natural disaster.

PLANNED GIFT

A representative from the foundation can help you establish a charitable trust, gift annuity or other planned gift that can pay you an income during your life and then have the principal go to a project or Donor Advised Fund in the Foundation at your death.
